How to Upload an Existing World to Your Terraria Server

This tutorial will guide you through the process of uploading an existing world save to your Terraria server, for both Vanilla Terraria or tModLoader worlds.

Danger

This will delete or overwrite any progress you have made on the server.

Finding Your Local Terraria World Save File

Vanilla Terraria

1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + R and enter this:

   %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Terraria\Worlds

2. Find the .wld file for the world you want to upload.

For example:

• DirectoryDocuments

  • DirectoryMy_Games

    • DirectoryTerraria

      • DirectoryWorlds

        • YourWorld.wld Your world save file

tModLoader

1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + R and enter this:

   %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Terraria\tModLoader\Worlds

2. Find both the .wld and .twld files for the world you want to upload.

   The .twld file contains your modded world data and is required.

For example:

• DirectoryDocuments

  • DirectoryMy_Games

    • DirectoryTerraria

      • DirectorytModLoader

        • DirectoryWorlds

          • YourWorld.wld Your world save file
          • YourWorld.twld Modded world data

Steam Cloud Saves

If your world is stored on the Steam cloud, you need to temporarily move it off the cloud first:

1. Launch Terraria.
2. Go to the world selection menu.
3. Click the cloud icon next to your world to move it off the cloud. This will download a local copy of your save.
4. Re-enable Steam cloud after copying the files if desired.

Uploading Your World

Vanilla Terraria

1. Log in to the Game Host Bros Game Panel and Stop your Terraria server.
2. In the Game Panel, navigate to File Manager.
3. Open the Worlds folder.
4. Upload your .wld file.
   • DirectoryWorlds

     • YourWorld.wld Your uploaded world save
5. In the sidebar, navigate to Startup Parameters.
6. Under Basic, set the World Name field to match your uploaded world file name.
7. Start your server.

tModLoader

1. Log in to the Game Host Bros Game Panel and Stop your Terraria server.
2. In the Game Panel, navigate to File Manager.
3. Open the Worlds folder.
4. Upload both your .wld and .twld files.
   • DirectoryWorlds

     • YourWorld.wld Your uploaded world save
     • YourWorld.twld Modded world data
5. In the sidebar, navigate to Startup Parameters.
6. Under Basic, set the World Name field to match your uploaded world file name.
7. Start your server.

Caution

Make sure to also install any required mods to your server.

Note

The World Name in Startup Parameters must match the name of your uploaded world.

For example, if your world is named is MyWorld.wld, set World Name to MyWorld.
