How To Install Valheim Mods

In this guide, you will learn how to install mods and plugins on your Valheim server using BepInEx.

Tip

Some mods need to be installed on your local game client too. We suggest using r2modman to toggle your mods and BepInEx on and off.

Installing BepInEx

Before installing any mods, you must first enable BepInEx.

1. Access the Game Host Bros Panel and select your Valheim server.
2. In the sidebar, go to Startup Parameters.
3. Under Modding, enable the setting Enable Modding (Bepinex).
4. Restart your server.

Everything you require to install mods on your Valheim server is now configured and ready to use. BepInEx will be automatically kept up-to-date whenever your server restarts.

Caution

If the mods you install are also required on clients, players on Xbox will no longer be able to connect to your Valheim server.

Installing Plugins

Once BepInEx is enabled, you can now add the plugins you wish. We suggest downloading them from Thunderstore. You will also need to know how to upload files to your game server..

1. Access the Game Host Bros Panel and stop your Valheim server.
2. Download the plugin you want from Thunderstore, right click, and extract it.
3. Access your Valheim server using SFTP.
4. Navigate to BepInEx/plugins and upload your extracted plugin folder.
5. Start your server.
